Ostrich Feather Dusters

Ostrich feather dusters are once again available. Following is the "Duster Care" for those who've lost theirs.

. Your Ostrich Feather Duster
The duster that doesn’t just ‘move’ dust, but actually ‘removes’ it.

As you might have noticed by now, we at Hakol Beseder strongly believe in creating manuals for what many see as the ‘self-understood’. I guess we find that to be an unfair expectation. It’s not that we doubt that you are brilliant, it’s just that seriously, how could anyone simply be expected to know?! So here are some quick points on how to optimize the duster’s efficiency, so that sunshine and cheer remain permanent fixtures in your home.

  • Fluff it:
Your duster has traveled quite some distance to get to you, all the while wrapped in plastic. For it to work best, you would want it fluffy and ready to grab any loose dust around. To achieve optimum fluffiness use a cool blow-dryer - - and watch it grow…
  • Use:
The Ostrich Feather duster works best without any additional products (like furniture polish). Also, while it is great at picking up dust, it will run into problems if the surface is dirty and sticky. What kind of problems? The duster itself will become dirty and sticky. So with furniture that is not clean, first wash the surface as you would regularly - with water and a dash of detergent, and then dry it thoroughly. Enjoy the experience, because you אי"הwon’t be doing it for a long time! Once you start dusting regularly, there will be no build-up, no grime, and unless some sweet little fingerprints make their appearance, no sticky dirt!
  • Free the Dust:
Outdoors, or out the window, hold the handle between both palms and tilt the ostrich feather duster forward and away from you. Start rolling the stick back and forth, and watch the dust fly… As you watch the wind carry the dust away, think of all the issues that might have been troubling you, and askהשי"ת to similarly carry them far far away.
  • Store it:
Your duster needs space to breathe. Besides, you don’t want it in an area where it will get sticky from other detergents, and squished due to lack of space. Right? Our recommendation? A tall glass vase, and say hello to your new ‘flower arrangement’. It actually looks quite pretty.
  • Care:
Your duster is a powerful tool, but it has a soft side too. It needs gentle care, and a light touch. We’ve searched and ב"ה found a durable, well built piece - and if you treat it right, it can last a long long time. So don’t dust grimy surfaces, and try not to let sticky little hands play with it.
Yet we know that despite our best intentions, it can happen. So for when it does get dirty, you might take comfort in the fact that your Ostrich Feather Duster is durable enough to tolerate a bath. Fill a small bucket with lukewarm water and a splash of mild soap (dish detergent or baby shampoo sounds good). Swish the duster in the water, rinse thoroughly, and let it air-dry. You will then want to fluff it, as described above. If you wish to speed the process along, you might try a cool blow-drying from the start.

Ok! You’re all set to start. Good luck and Happy Dusting!
